ABOUT ARANGETRAM
"Arangam" means stage and "etram" means to rise in Tamil, hence an arangetram is the ascending on stage of a dancer. It marks the completion of the Bharathanatyam curriculum after years of formal training. The event is the student’s first solo performance where she presents the full Bharathanatyam margam (repertoire) alongside a live orchestra and is introduced to the world as a dancer.
At RamyaLaya Dance Academy:
We encourage each student to complete an arangetram, although it is not mandatory. Each arangetram is a unique creation, catered to meet the student’s particular interests, highlight their strengths and artistic abilities, while challenging them in all aspects of nritta and nrithya. Throughout the preparation process, the student builds various life skills!
